Shikhar Shoes, which has been a leading Nepali maker of shoes and sandals for three decades, is setting out to win over a younger generation. The company has launched several models designed for young customers, a move it hopes will make Shikhar their first choice.

With fashions and tastes changing and competition growing in the footwear market, Shikhar has chosen not to rely on its established reputation alone. Instead it is pursuing a strategy to attract new customers, bringing fresh designs to the range while putting particular emphasis on comfort and durability.

"We are not just making shoes that sell; we are making shoes that last for years," said Ramkrishna Prasain, managing director of Shikhar Shoes. "Making comfortable, sturdy shoes with attractive designs is our priority."

Young people weigh comfort and durability as heavily as style when they buy shoes, Prasain said, so the company is trying to strike a balance among all three. Eye-catching design alone cannot win customers' trust, he added, which is why the company has kept its focus on quality.

Shikhar has long kept its own distinct identity in Nepali shoemaking. Over three decades, Prasain said, the company has learned to understand the Nepali market and what its customers need, and that experience remains its greatest strength.

In the coming days, he said, Shikhar will appear in the market with a more refined look and style. The company plans to expand its reach through new designs, better quality and closer ties with its customers.

By weaving three decades of experience together with designs suited to a new generation, Shikhar Shoes aims to bring tradition and innovation together. "Our goal is that once young people wear Shikhar, they choose it again and again," Prasain said.
